Our slogan:  "To put back more than we take"

Wildlife Action Goals

  1. Raise Public Awareness to dimishing wildlife habitat.
  2. Effectively secure, protect, and manage wildlife habitat.
  3. Protect rivers and wetlands from unnecessary destruction, and development.
  4. Work to reduce poaching, trespassing and other illegal and inconsiderate outdoor activities; encourage improved behavior of irresponsible outdoor users.

Mission Statement:

Wildlife Action is a private, non-profit grass roots organization whose mission is promoting public awareness about wildlife habitat conservation, preservation, and restoration of our natural resources educating all people of stewardship of the good earth, and promoting responsible sportsmanship and ethics as exercised in the right to bear arms.

Five Point Law

Preservation

We actively pursue protection of local rivers.  We were featured nationally on PBS TV Series "Conserving America:  The Rivers".  We own and manage over 10.000 acres of land for wildlife habitat and outdoor recreational activities.

Conservation

We built and placed in the wild over 10,000 duck boxes, 1,000 squirrel boxes and 4,000 bluebird houses and planted thousands of seeding pines and hardwoods.

Education

  • Program S.H.A.R.E for schools
  • Summer camps for youth
  • Resource education centers
  • Video/slide/PowerPoint
  • Instruction camping trips (ICTs)

Sportsmanship

We teach outdoor ethics through annual rifle, pistol, skeet, fishing, cooking and archery competitions.  They are the means of rediscovering and reliving our outdoor heritage.

Fellowship

We have monthly meetings with programs and special meal:  blackened fish, rattlesnake, beaver stew, venison, duck bog and maybe even hotdogs and hamburgers, too!

Welcome to Helms Preserve

In 2007 approximately 15.5 acres of woodland property near Whiteville
was donated to Wildlife Action by Earl and Dot Helms as a nature
preserve and educational/recreational facility for our youth programs.

We’ve been working for the past three years to bring their vision to
fruition, and have finally reached a point where the facility is
capable of hosting a variety of community service activities.
We hope the pictures featured here will give you an idea of what has
been accomplished, and what the possibilities for the future may be!  Now Wildlife Action has approximately 30 acres of woodland property.
